A STUDY OF THE NDEPP, DRUM & DANCE: A RITUAL OF THE DRUM AND SPIRIT
Ndepp - The healing ceremony of the Lebou people of the Senegambia West Africa. The ritual of Ndepp is part of an ancient African religious system in practice prior to the introduction of Islam and Christianity and is still continued by the Lebou in the treatment of mental illness and afflictions of the body and spirit. The women of a special society officiate the ceremonies and the leaders are called Ndepkat.
- There will be required Reading and Recitation as part of this study course.
